This course provides an overview of STEAM learning environments for gifted instruction. Banks and Barlex (2014) define the STEAM education environment as having three components:
- Physical environment of STEAM Education
- Student environment of STEAM Education
- Teacher environment of STEAM Education
The course will examine the learning environment of physical, student and teacher. We will define the STEAM education environment with consideration for the physical environment, student environment and teacher environment. These are interrelated areas, so they could be examined together. When we think about the physical environment, we also consider the student and teacher environments. For example, when we mention that a learning environment is designed with a multidisciplinary approach, we also reflect on whether the teacher has the competence to use that approach. As a result, it is better if the physical, student and teacher environments are considered at the same time.
